Legend of Aurora Borealis
The ends of the land and sea are bounded by an immense abyss, over which a narrow and dangerous pathway leads to the heavenly regions. The sky is a great dome of hard material arched over the Earth, yet there is a hole in it through which the spirits pass to the true heavens. Only the spirits of those who
have died in battle, and the dove, have been over this pathway. To guide these brave souls on their perilous journey and avoid a soul’s plummet into the fire, the gods created the Aurora; beautiful maidens who died tragic deaths too early in life. As the Aurora dance through the night sky, their delicate feet create strands of luminescent ribbons which light the treacherous path to heaven for the fallen warriors.
Of the Aurora none are fairer than their queen, Aurora Borealis. They say to behold Aurora is worth dying a thousand deaths, for there is no other beauty like her in heaven or earth. Her hair is the color of the purest snow, her pale skin radiates in its iridescence, and her eyes are a shade of such a pure deep blue that a mere glance would melt the coldest of hearts.
